Some could’t handle the tempting sponsor deals the bigger brands had to offer:Pieter jenken signed for Red Bull and  even  Niell Brown sold out to Nike fakeboarding. HISTORY -COMPANY CONCEPT & BACKGROUND

In the early 80-ies, when the second blast of fierce pumping hardcore punk pioneers shocked the world, a dutch guy discovered the adrenalin rush of the anger that lies within the determination to change all that felt wrong. As the singer of ZMIV, one of the most legendary dutch punkbands ever, he took the Do it Yourself approach bigtime,publishing artworks in numerous underground magazines.However, smart businessmen copied and adapted the expressions of the free and independent countercultures : HCP crushed under the weight of its own succes and went underground again, but the spirit of SEVERE was born. Drawing on his past as a hardcore punker-, he started to design “boardstyle graphics” for surf skate- and snowboard manufactureres and small boardsports initiatives. Founding the boardwear brand SEVERE somewhere back in 2002 seemed the logical result. A wild subsversive event-including a “catwalk crash” -march 2002- introduced SEVERE to the boardcore

2003/2004 Positioning its core-identity

SEVERE expanded its activities amazingly.Exposing the brand twice at the BoardIspo took it one step further. Being the alternative contender in the boardsportsmarket; the brand started booming skyhigh.Just one year later SEVERE is selling nationwide in the finest dutch board- shops. Organising severeal streetevents , rookie sk8 contests , being around at places that matter and loads of exposure in various magazines brought the underground to the surface.. Extending its productline with high quality sk8decks, raw canvas pants, snowboards & technical snow-wear confirmed the potential of this original contender in the global local boardsports industry   The realisation of a private concrete pool& skatepark located in the SEVERE gardens took place summer 2004.SEVERE is growing big by staying small             Source: surfersvillage.com
 

2006/2007  SEVERE  SKATE-  & SNOWBOARDS

After producing our skateboards in Canada in 2006, we found a new craftsmen from California which gave ‘em so much pop, you’ll just expected to fly. The “Punkskull, Meltdown  and Impact” were our first series. One year later,  we designed somme limited editions of custom made snowboards , which were tested in Severe backcountry trips during that year. Problems with the Italian printer ended that collaboration.Further  Production will take place with reliable producers in France and Austria.
